Song Analysis
The third installment of the 'Company' trilogy — Don's longest-running narrative throughline.
The Take
Track thirteen of *Love Sick*, 'Company Pt. 3' is the third and (to date) final installment of the 'Company' franchise that started with track eight of *Heaven or Hell* (2020) and continued as track eleven of *Life of a Don* (2021). Nez, 206Derek, and Los Hendrix produce — Nez (the Chicago-born producer whose discography includes work with Vic Mensa and Smino) takes the architectural lead, and the result is a quieter, more interior R&B track than either prior installment. The lyric paraphrase: the same loneliness/company theme that ran through Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 returns with another year of distance, and the narrator's relationship to the loneliness has shifted again — older, more resigned, less searching. The song's structural job inside the album is callback work: positioning *Love Sick* as continuous with the prior two albums even as the romantic-concept frame it commits to is new. Inside the *Love Sick* sequence, 'Company Pt. 3' sits between 'If I Had' and 'Bus Stop' and reads as the album's deliberate lineage moment — the track that confirms this is the third Don album in a connected universe rather than three discrete projects.
