Born Xavier Lamar Dotson on March 10, 1980 in Frankfurt, Germany (to a US military family) and raised in San Francisco before relocating to Atlanta, Zaytoven is the Atlanta organ-trap pioneer behind much of Gucci Mane's catalog and Migos' early breakthrough. His piano-and-flute melodies, often improvised live, helped define the Atlanta sound of the late 2000s and 2010s. For Don, Zaytoven co-produced Hardstone Psycho's 'Purple Rain' alongside Metro Boomin and Honorable C.N.O.T.E. — a track that channels the gospel-organ atmosphere of his Gucci-era work into Don's wider, more cinematic palette.
